About Us
The San Mateo Police Activities
League (PAL) was developed in 1997 by a small group of police
officers and members of the community. Its mission is to
prevent juvenile delinquency and juvenile crime by engaging
youth with police officers to help create a safer community
and promote the healthy physical, social, and mental
development of its youth.
PAL operates as a joint
partnership between the City of San Mateo Police Department
and the City of San Mateo Parks and Recreation Department.
Their strategic goal is to target and identify "at-risk"
communities and youth and provide them with educational,
athletic, and other recreational activities. PAL defines
"at-risk" youth as any youth that are unsupervised during
non-school hours.
