GIVING OPPORTUNITIES

"We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give."
 Winston Churchill

There are many ways to support San Mateo PAL. Please take a look at our corporate/business giving program information. Our brochure can also be downloaded for your use.

If you would like to become a donor but are not affiliated with a corporation or business, please take a look at our other opportunities. All forms can be downloaded and faxed to (650) 522-7551 or mailed to 2000 S. Delaware Street, San Mateo, CA 94403. Please send to the attention of Development Coordinator.

Without the support of our donors we would not be able to reach all the youth, families, and community members we do. Thank you.

Tessa brought a natural sense of mental toughness, determination, and fearlessness to her study of Judo. Tessa was posthumously awarded the rank of Shodan by her Sensei Officer Mike Buckle, following   her tragic murder in 2005. With the experiences Tessa found in PAL Judo, she was able to find true happiness in knowing who she was and what she could accomplish to fulfill her dreams.

Lieutenant Barbara Hammerman served the citizens of San Mateo with distinction as a member of the San Mateo Police Department for 21 years, holding numerous positions.  She was promoted to corporal in 1989, Sergeant in 1994, and Lieutenant in 2001.

Her successes are legendary for her excellent work and for the examples she set with her trailblazing efforts, championing the rights and protection of the vulnerable in our society.  These are reflected in the numerous commendations and awards she received.  At-risk youth benefited greatly from her volunteer work with the Police Activities League.  Barbara donated numerous hours as a PAL baseball coach and started a youth kayaking program.

Her zeal was evident in her organizing of weekend biking and kayaking trips for PAL youth.  Barbara Hammerman lost her life to cancer December 31, 2006 and is greatly missed.
