As one of California PAL's most important educational
programs,
The Sacramento Experience Youth Leadership Academy is a unique
opportunity for PAL Youth Leadership Council officers and
directors to gain hands-on experience in leadership and
character development. Another huge aspect of Sacramento
Experience is that the PAL kids have the opportunity to learn
about the legislative process, tour the State Capitol
Building, personally meet and speak with their local district
legislators, and meet with hundreds of other PAL youth from
all regions of California.The
benefits of attending the Sacramento Experience Youth
Leadership Academy are two-fold:
- PAL youth will be challenged and
empowered to rise to a new level of participation in their
various PAL programs as well as their communities and
schools. The leadership knowledge that the kids gain by
participating in the Youth Leadership Council (YLC) program
enables them to have the confidence to make a difference
with their peers and in the community. These PAL kids
influence others to get involved and through this effort,
juvenile crime and gang involvement in the local communities
is diminished.
- Meeting with their State Legislators
enables PAL chapters to establish and build strategic
personal relationships with their Representatives. During
these meetings, the PAL chapters have the opportunity to
educate Legislators about their PAL program's effect on
reducing juvenile crime and violence and the good that
California PAL is doing to give PAL youth the opportunity to
become better citizens and be an active part of their local
communities.
